Elizabeth Klarer was born in South Africa in 1910 in rural Kwazulu-Natal in the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains. She had her first sighting of a UFO at age 7 with her sister outside their parents farmhouse. She claimed they witnessed a plummeting pocked-marked meteor which was intercepted by a silver disc bathed in a pearly luster.

After matriculating she studied art and music in Florence, Italy and then completed a four-year diploma in meteorology at Girton College, Cambridge University, and also qualified as a pilot to fly light aircraft. During WW11 she worked for South African Air Force Intelligence and was seconded to the Royal Air Force where she trained as a decoding specialist. Certain messages leading scientists were unable to decipher were sent to her for decoding. She also lectured to NASA and the House of Lords.

She had her 2nd sighting of a UFO when flying in a light aircraft with her pilot husband on a trip to Johannesburg. After reading George Adamski's Flying Saucers Have Landed (1953) and Inside the Space Ships (1955), Klarer recalled that she had been receiving occasional telepathic messages from a friendly space alien named Akon since childhood. She was able to take photos of the ship from the Drakensberg Mountains on July 17, 1955. There were a few more sightings and then in 1957 Akon landed his ship on the high plateau of Cathkin Peak in the Drakensberg mountains. She was actually taken aboard the spacecraft and spent a day with Akon when they made love and she conceived their child. When she was ready to give birth Akon came and took her to the home planet Meton which orbits Proxima Centauri which at 4.3 light years, is our nearest stellar neighbor. She claims to have spent the equivalent of 4 months on Earth giving birth to their hybrid son Ayling.  

The hill where there was the first landing/ contact, is now called Flying Saucer Hill. It is interesting to note that at 29°E it is very close to the Nilotic Meridian 31°E. 

Elizabeth was given a standing ovation at the 11th International Congress of UFO Research Groups at Weisbaden in 1975, and her speech as guest of honor was applauded by scientists of twenty-two nations. Her speech was entitled “The Secrets of Light”  

When Elizabeth went public with her claims in 1978, she was met with derision by the UFO community which she endured until her dying day. In 1980 she published her book Beyond the Light Barrier about her incredible experience and journey. 

There is now a book about her by a close family friend and confidante Valerie O’Hogan called My Memories of Elizabeth Klarer, who is trying to continue her mission and keep her legacy alive.  There is a second book by Elizabeth not yet published called The Gravity File which has lots of classified information she was not able to publish before because of the Official Secrets Act,  that Valerie is hoping to publish. Valerie claims that Elizabeth gave her the formula for their propulsion systems.

UTOPIAN LIFE ON PLANET METON

She describes this idyllic utopian life the people live there on planet Meton. She described how they have overcome the ageing process and never get ill. How the ship is powered by light in different frequencies, everything is electrical, clean, silent with no noise. How they are a highly advanced civilization millions of years ahead of us. They live very simply and only wear natural silk even for sandals. Everything is powered by electrogravity - they tap the electricity from the atmosphere, or from the sea, or from space. She described how they have no religion but that God is Light and Light is God. They are a very gentle people and don’t have any wars. There is no monetary system and no greed. They travel by intention and tune in to their home planet. They live in Beauty and all healing is done through electricity. Their star system has 3 stars and there is no night on Meton as when the one star sets the others rise. So a beautiful twilight is the closest they get to night time. Scientists run the planet. She talks of riding on white horses bareback and the beautiful music they play and the rainbow colors in their houses. She describes how the banisters and railings in the homes are made from Mother of Pearl, even the piano keys. Akon continued to visit Elizabeth and used to manifest to her in the form of a hologram. It became her mission to awaken people as Akon asked her to teach, inform, write books/ articles, lecture people about what is going on and what is to come. Her message, their message is one of hope to planet Earth.

And now there is a South African movie called Beyond the Light Barrier Movie (SA/Italy/ Ukraine), narrated by veteran SA actorJohn Kani, which explores her extraordinary life and how she devoted herself to proving the existence of Akon, her extra-terrestrial lover from the planet Meton in the Proxima Centauri solar system. The film features archival footage, recent interviews with Klarer's family and friends, as well as skeptics, and SA Ufologists, offering an in-depth look at her enigmatic life. The movie will be shown at Encounters South African International Documentary Festival 25th anniversary edition, the premier documentary festival in Africa and one of the oldest film festivals on the continent from 22 Jun - 02 July 2023
